What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a simple, conservative way to improve your smile. We use a tooth-colored composite resin material to repair chips, close small gaps, reshape teeth, or cover stains. The resin is carefully applied, shaped, and polished to blend naturally with your surrounding teeth.

Why Choose Bonding?

Bonding is one of the most versatile and affordable cosmetic treatments we offer. It's ideal if you want to make a noticeable improvement without extensive preparation or multiple appointments.

Because bonding typically requires little to no removal of your natural tooth structure, it's a conservative option that preserves as much of your healthy tooth as possible. Most bonding procedures can be completed in a single visit, so you can walk out with a refreshed smile the same day.

What Can Bonding Fix?

We use bonding to address a variety of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Discolored or stained teeth that don't respond well to whitening
  • Teeth that appear too short or uneven
  • Minor shape irregularities

What to Expect During Your Bonding Appointment

Your bonding appointment is straightforward and comfortable. We'll start by selecting a resin shade that matches your natural teeth. In most cases, anesthesia isn't necessary unless we're bonding to treat a cavity or the tooth is sensitive.

We'll gently prepare the tooth surface, then apply the resin in layers, carefully sculpting it to the desired shape. A special light hardens each layer. Once the bonding is complete, we'll trim, shape, and polish it until it looks and feels just like your natural tooth.

The entire process usually takes 30 to 60 minutes per tooth, and you'll leave with immediate results.

How it works
01

Shade Selection

We choose a composite resin color that perfectly matches your natural teeth.

02

Tooth Preparation

The tooth surface is lightly etched and conditioned so the resin adheres properly.

03

Resin Application

We apply the putty-like resin in layers, sculpting it to the ideal shape and contour.

04

Hardening & Polishing

A special curing light hardens the resin, then we trim and polish it to a natural shine.

Common questions
How long does dental bonding last?+

With proper care, bonding can last anywhere from 3 to 10 years. Longevity depends on the location of the bonding, your oral habits, and how well you maintain it. Avoid biting hard objects, and keep up with regular cleanings and checkups.

Is bonding as strong as my natural teeth?+

Bonding is durable for everyday use, but it's not as strong as natural enamel or restorations like crowns. It can chip if you bite down on hard foods, ice, or pens. We'll give you care tips to help your bonding last as long as possible.

Can bonded teeth be whitened?+

The composite resin used in bonding doesn't respond to whitening treatments. If you're considering whitening, we recommend doing it before bonding so we can match the resin to your brighter shade. If your bonding becomes stained over time, it can be polished or replaced.
