Unlike fillings, which work best for smaller cavities, stainless steel crowns cover the entire tooth above the gum line. This provides full protection and strength, allowing your child to chew comfortably and speak clearly while the tooth remains in place until it naturally falls out.

What to Expect During the Procedure

The crown is placed over the prepared tooth and gently cemented into place. The entire procedure usually takes just one visit, and your child can eat normally soon after.

Caring for a Stainless Steel Crown

Stainless steel crowns are very durable and don't require any special maintenance. Your child should continue brushing twice a day and flossing daily, just like with natural teeth. Regular dental checkups help us monitor the crown and the surrounding teeth as your child grows.

The crown will stay in place until the baby tooth is ready to fall out naturally, at which point the crown comes out along with the tooth. There's no need for removal appointments.
